Week 7 Greek (9th-13th)

so this week is the week before the show; after running Act 1 we lost all confidence within the show as we believed that it was not going to come together; one again people moaned within the group but i personally think that if they was to listen and not mess around and write notes in their script, it would of made it a lot faster, it did not help that we hadn't put Act 2 together as whole at the being of the week.

on monday it was hard as we lost a rehearsal day due to that we had presentation day where over last two week we had been putting together presentations that we would show back to the class, shelby and I based are presentation the greek history, contemporary themes and how time has changed; it was hard for me as we only had hour together to put it all together and shelby forgot the parts of the script wi was meant to say, this was a lot harder for me as i struggle with reading but in life i have learnt that you should never let it hold you back; therefore i let it be my challenge everyday so have something to defeat in my day to day bases.

when we return on Wednesday we run act 1 in different style such as ;...
> Vampire
>made in chelsea
>children
these are only a few different ways that we acted it; this was to get the energy up when performing it, i found that i worked as people were having fun during the run especially when we run it as it moved a lot more smooth and faster, i found this was because people knew that was coming up next.

Act 2 i found run a lot easier due to that people had learned their lines and that it was less chorus to out and to add in; when trying this with the different styles i found it lot more fun to work on my scene with shelby; i found a style that would work with Helen during my scene these were:..
>layer - during 'why did i go? why did i do it ?' i found it worked with the questions as it was like that I'm leading the audience towards me like i would with a jury i was using my enrichment experience to help play this.

while running my scene Karan and I notice that i strangle with 'th and f' in the right place so instead of saying with i would say wif for example; this meant i would go home and work on this so that when I'm on stage next week it is improved, so that the audience can understand in what i am saying; i have done this by doing tongue twisted in my spear time and recorded my self and listen back to see in where the script it could improve still. i have took on board that it may take awhile so it will not be complete gone during this performance but will be a bit clearer as it will take time, but after it will hopeful make me a better actress for over coming this challenge. just means enough challenge to over come in life which i dont mind.

Week 6 Greek (2nd-6th)

Blog 6:

This week was kind of the same as week 5 as we began by running Act one, it was hard as people had forgotten what we had done the week before as they never wrote any notes for it, so this began to annoy people within the group it was also annoying as people still had not learnt there lines therefore we could not improve any scene we had porously done.

The first scene we began to look at was the scene where the chorus come in from the side one by one; this scene was the main issue as people forgot how they were using their voice and what came next so after Karen left we had to work as team to get it done again and work on how we were all individual speaking the lines as I am saying my line ‘so the queen detested, by god and the dead’ as if I am telling a story to little children will being really sycatsic. After 10 minutes the scene final re-worked itself back to what we had. So that we had more of purpose when we walked the whole group walked around the room, I walked as if I was looking for something with a high status as I felt that’s what my chorus character would when playing with Electra or the audience mind; due to if someone looks like they can lead people will tend to full for insurance that they will found their way.

During voice we worked through an animal workshop some theatre company’s use to this before every show to help build the actor into their character; when I did this I found two animals that I thought would represent Helen Tory the best, my first being a snow leopard and second being a Chameleons lizard.

Why? Let me just tell you…
so in this picture i think that the snow leopard looks beautiful, stunning and graceful as the the unique patten, how blue the eyes are really helps with this; they stand out the most with the black and white patten.

where in this picture; you see more of the evil side and not so gracefully i found this was usefully for my character as Helen is always there ready to fight back.

so the reason why i also decide to have a Chameleons lizard as my second choice of animal is because it can camouflage when its believes is in danger; i just felt that it would be a good animal for Helen because she is always looked upend for being beautiful, as she is Zeus daughter and therefore she can not always feel conferrable within her own skin.

here is the lizard camouflaging.

during movement we finally worked out what we during the sense when Connor is Oristieas; it was not hard as i to the group how i felt because everything was taking longer the it should of done, Kirsty also agreed with me; i felt that the group listened after and we managed to get it down within 30 minutes.

so within this scene we diced that we would be in a press comfortance and the main chorus would do the talking as we felt that it was fair, i then came up with the idea of sway when charlie acts that she swelling the baby, as we found that it add more of effect and making just more interesting to watch.

Week 5 Greek (25th-29th)

This was the first week we finally saw how act one was to look as a whole; during this week we didn’t only see this we finished scenes and improved our characters within the chorus so that we could have more of an understanding in how we would betray are own character so that they are all different, while being different they also need to be seen as one; so that the audience would get an understanding of the chorus, how we want to betray them as journalist. Over this week I have learnt that it is important that we want the audience to get the fact we are journalist as in the modern day society they tend to be everywhere to get information that will help have story to publish.

How we managed to move along the line to make our chorus members independent and different from everyone was doing a small workshop during the rehearsal process as we broke off around the room a was told two different pose; that represented a listening pose  (so that it made it look as if we were listening to Abbi telling us the information) , then we had to do a second pose that we could move into so for my one I lead forward and open my mouth to give a little facial expression so that it add more character and we were not all acting unitive.

The first scene we looked at was Abbi when the chorus is undercover and are pretending to be the ‘women that moan’ and ‘friend’ we found that we already had was good but that we need to stay force; it was hard for everyone to do this as after a while some people began to get bored of repeating the same scene over and over again, also it was hard as we had to look into Abbi and have a fake smile when she called us over with ‘friends’ this was to betray the fact that we aren’t really friends of hers , we were just there to get a story to twist.

Some of the fake smiles looked like this:

This is why we began to found it hard to laugh at each other.

I found that Wednesday and Thursday it was a lot hard for everyone to keep their mind within the room but on Wednesday we done some active ideas as we took some ideas form ‘The Box’ performance to create a chair routine so that it was put together a lot faster we decide that it would be better if we broke off into small group;  I was with Connor we started off we a different routine where we had different dynamics with the bodies but we found that it wouldn’t work, so we relooked over the 8 lines  in which we had this lead to less movement but was more affected as on the word ‘tangled’ Connor tangled my arm around me, we they had to work how we speak our lines we both agreed on high syacits voice; as we found it kept the audience interested when relaying back to other  class mates .

Week 4 Greek (18th-22nd)

This week i was only in for one day and an hour of the course week this was because i was taking part in enrichment that was to do with my other subject; during this week we were given the different grading criteria's; so we know to get the top mark which is possible for us; this started to get me think more in how i should play my character to make it believable to the audience, i feel that she will have small steeliness about her and how she moves , along with a insecure too as she feels that she has to live up to the high statement of beautiful all the time, as she is Zeus daughter.

also watched some videos on the national theatre web-suite that explained how Greek theatre first came about and how it was first used, politics and to address an issue in the society. During the one hour that i was there on thursday we rehearsed my sense with electra 1 and worked on the blocking how i would use my dynamic in my voice to play on words and to imtimerdate electra, to wound her up and to make her annoyed.

Week 3 Greek (11th-16th)

so within in this week we looked at the other main theme honour and the steps we would go to, to protect our own family name, so in my case i would lie to the law to protect my family name to some extend but i would not do it if they would to murder someone as i believe they should take what is given to them with there punishment. some people would say 'eye for an eye' the old statement.

on wednesday we did some more force on the breathing with Alex, where we would lie on the floor to open the so it could full extend when breathing we then worked with in groups on different parts of the chorus and how we would perform it such as...

> we could sing it - even though i was not a part of this group when i watched it, it made me feel happy. - i think we could use this on a chorus speech to trick the audience in what they are meant  to be thinking.
> whisper - i was not in this group either but when i watched this; it made have shivers and it made it more creepy
> different range in voice( low/high) - i was in this group i found that you could play more on the words with is as you could start low then finish the word on high note, i found this add more dynamics on the voice.

during this week we was told draw some pictures on a paper drew:...

> Death of Agamemnon - as this is quite a horrific scene due that cytemnestra his wife and her new lover kills him in his own bath in his own home, also when the script says his body was twitching i get a image i my head that is not nice at all.

> eye: i drew this as they are always getting watched not matter what they do.

> knife with blood- this was on of my image that i drew as it plays a big part in the play within all.

i though this week very helpful and gave me wider understanding of the play, how much of trudge it actually in.
