Over the last few weeks we have been looking at different techniques in which to use when being filmed, we have done this by watching workshops than trying them out with different parts of scene from season of our choice.
Different techniques that we have looked at and will help on screen;
- Away to show good emotion on screen is to relate the scene to something that as happened to yourself than bring it to your character, as it will help show body language and show that you have the picture in your head. This will also allow you to have life around your eyes.
example off this, when people talk they always look around up into their eyes to show that they are remembering the story they are telling or they are picturing what they are talking about.
-There are point to remember that will help to play the character,
these are; always try to see the sourdine of where the scene is set, everybody
has life around the eyes try and bring that to your eyes when acting .
example of that I
did not use this was the first workshop of filming was when I done my monologue
on camera I over acted and didn’t bring the life to my eyes as I didn’t have
imagery in my had a and I was just saying the lines, after this I then told a
story that had happened over Christmas and straight away I had life in me, from
the story I switched to the lines and kept the light in my eyes when watching
back you could see the different.
example that I used
the sourdine of the place that helped to show character and bring it to life
would be the second scene that i done with Joe from My mad fat diary’s; this
was based in the hall way of a college, therefore when it came to filming we
moved outside of classroom and done it in the college hallway and got people
from the class to walk around during our scene. I found when doing this the
voice changed with the volume as it got quitter and the tone became more of
whisper, then with my eyes i found i was looking around to see that no one was
listening to what we were talking about.
eyes, voice and physical of all the body change from stage
to t.v....Fact
I found when doing the second scene with joe, I remember to
relate till real life as I was meant to
be in love with Finn(joe's character) therefore I related to Jack(my boyfriend)
and remember how he makes me feel with butterflies ..ect... also when I was being
rae earl I wasn’t them or rae I was said as I to show that i have become that character
as its also good to remember it I and not them, she or he.
During the scene that I have filmed so far a key thing that I’ve struggled to remember was the though process, so I found when going through the script i start to anaylaz it was thoughts and background story therefore it gave it the though when the line was said.
Key Fact from the Workshop that we watched;...ACTING ON
SCREEN
- Don’t miss the movement.
-Don’t lose the locking breath -Don’t loses energy by letting the breath out before you speak.
I’ve used these keys facts when at home and rehearsing the two
scenes as it helped me to build the movements when mean to be hold.
I also found that Male Churchill (don’t know if name is
correct) every character is you but a different version of you- i found this
help me during my second scene a lot as I found that I wasn’t over acting.
Another techniques that i have found help was the one that Michael Cane said - when talking to someone and looking in the yes you always to look at the ye on the opposite side of the character and only look at one eye at one time, this helped a lot more when doing My mad fat diary’s as when doing pretty little lairs my eyes where everywhere as I didn’t really where to look therefor bit become harder when talking to Paige and you lost moments.
So far with T.v and film i have it harder than what I originally though it would as you don’t want to over act but not under act and i have found it hard to bring light and life to my eyes to make it like realistic, I think after a few more shoots and more practice at home in the mirror I will pick up on the correct style of acting and these techniques that we have learnt so far as helped a lot.
We also looked and the different in scripts which was not
new to my eye but it was handy to recap this as I had forgotten what INT and
ENT meant on the script, therefore recapping this meant when typing up the
scrip as couldn’t found it online i could put this in to help joe and I get use
to lay out of the scripts.
