Classical theatre- BRUTUS CHARACTER STUDY

 character study ;

In the original Julius Caesar, Brutus is a supporter of the republic that believes strongly in having a government guided and should be votes of the senators that counts. even thought Brutus loves Julius Caesar as friend; Brutus is opposes the ascension of any single man to the position of dictator therefore he fears that Caesar aspires to such power. Brutus character is very inflexible sense of honour therefore it was easy for Caesar’s enemies to manipulate him to believe that Caesar must die in order to achieve the republican.
while the conspirators act out of envy and rivalry, that leaves Brutus truly believes that Caesar’s death will benefit Rome; Brutus is the type of person that can separate his complete public life from him private life unlike Caesar. Brutus gives priority to matters of state, therefore he epitomises Roman vitue, he is torn between his loyalty of Caesar and his allegiance to the state therefore this leaves Brutus the tragic hero of the play.

Brutus for my scene;

Name; Brutus

Age; 25

Placed;  In old Rome somewhere outsides, I imagine with a bench or somewhere to sit.

Personality; during my scene i play Brutus as a strong mind set and only wants one thing, therefore this leave her impassion quite offend with a tone to the voice when doing so; the reason why i have given my Brutus a strong mind set as i’ve had to transfer Brutus into a women, i gave her a background to her life. This was that as child she got bullied for wanting to be part of government and lead as it was unseal to see in Rome at the time it set. As she grow up she learnt that you had to be strong person not to take notice of what others said therefor eloping feelings towards things to work her way up.

Body langues; Ive put in tension in to my draw off the mouth to create the look on impassion, i’ve also made her the type of character to alway be quick on the feet therefore she has learnt to stand tall and shoulders back, a type of character that you might see something like this in today society would be a politician. If to look at films you could see some of the body language of Jennifer Lawrence when in the hunger games .

This picture shows the type of tension in the draw and the type of strong minded with the body language with how she stood.

Relationship with other characters;
Julius Caesar - Is part of a conspiracy against Julius Caesar as Brutus done want him to lead.
All the following Characters are linked to Brutus as they are also conspirator with Brutus.

-casca
-Decius Brutus
-Cinna
-Metullus Cimber
-Trebonius
-Caius Ligrius

Portia - Brutus Wife in the play.

Cassius - Leader of conspiracy against Julius Caesar along with Brutus.

Shakespeare Blogs Week 1

Blog 1

This week was more of getting back into our characters and running over lines on the first day; as we haven't done shakespeare in while we were doing punk rock. whilst doing this i found that it would be a good idea to try different accent, some of the accents that i tried were;...
Scottish - This i found was not to bad with in my character brutus but i fund that i struggled to keep it Scottish as it kept turning to Irish.
Australian - even though i found this fun to do; but i found this would not fit my character on stage as when performed i felt that it would make the audience laugh to hear shakespeare in Australian accten, also found that when trying to do this that i couldn't build on my character with the accent so it was a no again.

After this we found in our small group to try in a style off to help find different ways to act; this helped with Bradly to found the voice of his character; after this lesson i found to watch people out in public i might found little habits that they do that may help.

over my days off i took to learning my lines and watching youtube clips of people that i though would suit my brutus; when going over lines whir learning them i found that i would play my brutus with a little flirt to caska at first till i get bored and fed up with triteness when my impassions comes out. Therefore I will develop  my brutus into really bold flirty and impassion when it comes to caska.

I will keep of taking notice off people when they are lining up and trying to pick up on small little habits that they do.

ACTERS WANTED!

 ACTERS WANTED !!

The speech I will perform is from the play Three sisters, that was written by Anton Chekhov that is a Russian playwright. The play was inspired by the situation of the three Brontë sisters. The style of the play is a drama.

The character I have forced on is Irina Sergeyevna Prozorova; she is the youngest sister. Her age being 20 in the play, her insits she is grown-up she is still enchanted by small things such as spinning top that is bought to her by Fedotik; therefore she can sometimes come across as childish. The obly desire that she has is to one day go back to Moscow, which they left 11 years ago before the play starts therefore she was only 9 at the time. The reason why she wants to go back is because she believes that one day that her she will find her true love there; sometime in the play it becomes clear that they are not going back to Moscow, ends up marring someone that she do not love called Baron Tuzenbach. After the speech that I perform she ends up getting her teaching degree and decides to leave Barn and dedicates herself to work and service.

So after the speech I do; it has real effect on her and she manages to complete he ambition.

Three sisters is a naturalistic play about the decay of the privileged class in Russia and the meaning of the modern world, it describes the lives of three sisters and a brother .They is all dissatisfield and frustrated of the present day. The family use Moscow as a symbolic element ; the sisters are always dreaming of returning as they identify Moscon as there happiness as they believe its the perfect life. However as the play develops Moscow never materializes and they all see their dreams recede further and further. Meaning never presents itself and they are forced to seek it out for themselves.

The reason why I have picked this as speech as I know with my family that there is always that one place that you can relate to that means something to you, therefor e  I can relate back to the play with how they all think of Moscow being there’s.  Also the play is a naturalistic and after weeks of doing this style in other classes (punk rock) I feel that this well show the different skills I have.

While rehashing this speech at home I found that I fall into a pattern, which can be good but in this case it came as a bad thing as it bought my energy down; therefore to overcome this I had to do different excise such as saying it like a child, whispering, pulling my own body weight and push against a wall. After doing these I found different meaning and different ways to say lines in the speech such as “hard, sweaty, back-breaking work” can me said with tension in the voice where later on when talking about being an ox can be said childish.

During this speech i have decied points in my head where i would look, as she is meant to be talking to Olga.

Audition Process Blog

Classical Speech -

Due to the fact I have performed this speech at the national theater; doesn't mean i found it easy. The first time I performed this is was mean to be bold and out there, like it would of been back in 1599. I want the speech this time to be more under the cover; even though it was Shakespeare dose not mean it have be out there. Therefore I deiced to go with making it mooden, by not making it ......

when practicing this around the room it did go back to the old way, so i came up with if i was to apply some Shakespeare words to normal speech soon after i would fall out of overdoing the speech; this is something i would practices with my family and friends. I then went to just saying it to people and getting fed back. I think i struggled at first to get the emotion; as when first performed the way i linked the speech was to the character. After receiving some good feedback from a friend leading me to the correct direction I managed to link it to myself and who I would feel if I lost the person in my life that I love.

After I manged to reach the emotion, the action that i done during the speech came naturally, therefore I believe that I will mange to before I realistic performance that dose not make yoou feel like you are watching Shakespeare.

Contemporary Speech-

This speech has been hard for me to learn, as it is something I have never done, emotion way and actions; i have done some excise that has help me through this speech with the emotion and how to relay it back to the Audience.

some of the excise i took on board were;...

seating on a chair and trying to pull up while still on it - This help me get the intense in my voice during it.

pushing the wall - This helped the core muscles to work giving me more power during so lines like "what sort of person does that make me".

whisper like a kid -  This has help me get the childish feel when the speech goes on about love.

I'm finally getting the emotions of the speech therefore the words are slowly falling into place; the only thing that still that I struggle with is the action when rehearsing. I think this may fall into place the more I practices and the character get more developed by linking to my life somehow.

Punk Rock Rehearsal Period 2

So now after starting the run of the whole play, to bring more emotion to the play. We have started to look at targets that was introduced by Declan Donellan; this an idea that in each scene that your character saw any other character as an object. (i will go through each scene with Tanya is in and give each character an object) once given the object that how the character will see them and play towards them;...

SCENE 1  (Targets)

Lilly -  New Phone ( As you want to care for it; once missed placed you get annoyed then found it you are relived; this is how i feel after finding Lilly as been looking awhile)

Cissy - sour sweets (As she has the front up about her when around Bennet, and she is very statistic and comes across as bitter just like the sweets)

Nicholas -Butterfly (He is there but there is not any conversation between the two, he is also meant to be beautiful)

Bennett - Knife (Also sharp towards Tanya just like a knife so im also on card when comes to him)

William -  lost puppy (See him drooling all over Lilly, just like how a puppy wants a bone)

Chadwick - Favorite Teddy (straight to proctoring him and want to mother him from getting hurt)

SCENE 3 (Targets)

Cissy and Lilly } - Chick Flick  ( Both are on gossip and laughing like close friends, like in  a move)

Bennett - Bee (something that you have annoy till a centin pint to it sting backs an example of this happening is on page 43 and 44)

Chadwick - Google (always looking for the next thing and also shocking people as one step a head)

William - Ticking coco clock (see him that she is about to explode and go crazy - the money part shows this well page 47 and 48)

SCENE 4

Bennett - Bomb (That's he is always going off on one, exploding at people like bomb when hitting the countries)

Cissy - a cheater [the animal] (They always follow the leader ~ Bennett in this case~ but can move away from the crowed if need be which she dose after the kiss from chadwick )

William - firework -( slowly starting to sizzle away with anger, then goes off  at the end so it all builds up, when he goes for Bennett; Tanya notices this due to the small movements william shows through out the scene)

Nicholas -  Bird (even though there is small conversation between Tanya and Him, he is always watching a never stands out and in you're face, apart from when need to be, so when a bird goes for food)

Chadwick - ant (so quite and just go about there businesses, and always try to when someone gets in there way and i think ants are cool)

Lilly - colour yellow  (knowing as people favorite but sometimes can be put out there, which in this scene she puts her self out there to William to stop him)

Scene 6

This scene is more of a difficult one as its the scene that most people die; therefore its hard to put targets on people then more i practices and watch the scene i think i will slowly see them.

- always found this scene a struggle as well due to the emotion state Tanya has to get in which is always hard to put yourself there, in some rehearsal i have manged to get past the braking point but in others i have; i believe once in front of a audince then tens will be there.

THE DOCTOR ROLL

This roll nothing like i have ever done before as its acting but without showing any emotion; as i have to listen to William speak; well watching him. I think inn away that i am over thinking the roll, i think to play the roll you need to under think and go with it; i will try this method in the next rehearsal.

(I will adding part 3 during show week)

Tanya Gleason Characters study

TANYA GLEASON

Name; Tanya Gleason.

Age; 17 years old shortly going to turn 18.

Year; The play is based in present day.

Place; Stockport, grammar school called Stockport Grammar school, most scene take part in the common room and library with in the school.

this is an image that i thick what the common room looks like, as the windows are not enough to open open wide for William in scene 5.

Studies; I have made the decision that Tanya is studying English (she has crush on the teacher Mr Anderson), History ( "it's the History exam this afternoon as well.") and  General Studies (as everyone has to do this as said in scene 1)

Personality; Tanya is a kind and caring person and cant help but stick up for people that get bully, this back fires half of the time due to Bennett is always bullying her. Tanya also has a crush on Mr Anderson but it seems more of Crush as she wants to have his baby and want to be his secret lover, therefore she is more obuse with him. This give me the though that she has father issue as she goes for the old man, so really she is looking for the father finger instead.

Tanya also has not set her stands high after sixth form as she dose not talk about a carer or going away and moving out of Stockport she only tends to talk about having children (scene 3 page 42/43).

Relationship with Characters;

Cissy - Tanya best friend even though Cissy betrays her with telling Bennett (Cissy boyfriend ) about Mr Anderson (scene 1 page 20 evidence). Tanya also see all the different sides of Cissy hen around different people and really dis-likes it shown when Tanya down answer at the end of scene 4 and just walks away.

Lilly - The new girl that Tanya is assigned to look after her on her first day; after a month soon to become good friends

A scene that shows Cissy, Lilly and Tanya being good friends and messing around is scene 4 when talking about being parents.

Chadwick - Tanya always there for Chadwick when being bully as she understands that he is there just because he has to and don't really fit in, do not like the fact that Bennett bullies him this is much shown in every scene particle in scene 4 "Bennett, stop It"

Nicholas - There is not much conversation between these two characters therefore i get the idea that they only speak when have to due to the are friends with the same people.

Bennett - Tanya and Bennett do not have the best relationship and Bennett fear Tanya, as he believes that she knows more about his sexuality then what the rest do therefor he feels the need to bully Tanya to embrace her and always wants her to be one her tip toes when his around. I think the only reason why Tanya put up with him is because of Cissy. Therefore there is always a tension between these two.

William - William really cares for Tanya this comes out in scene 7 when he asks how she is doing and this also makes me think this as he dose not kill her and i think deep down he has always quite liked her as in scene 3 ("were you trying to kiss me?") even know this is away to make Lilly jealous; its just wired that he chose Tanya for it.

How to play Tanya - Characteristic

I see Tanya being kind and caring but having a slight side with sharp character and not being a fared to speak her mind due to this she has a sasses side to her; when talking to Bennett. I think this is because she never always went to a grammar school i think that she went to a stat school at first.

when it comes to Tanya accent she will be posh English still but not queen posh but very articalit and good dexstion when speaking to people.

costume - As Tanya well bought up she fulls the uniform with resepct but also wants to fit in with the others therefore she has a hand bag instead of ruck sack and wears the tie lose and not that long like any normal teenager at her age stuck wearing a uniform.

wearing blouse with a skirt and black tights with a natural like with her hair plane not so much done up.

Addition To Characteristic -

After doing a few runs i found more instead of the character (Tanya). Scene 3  with the lines between Bannet; made me fine horrible twist of the her; that even though she seem nice a sweet half of the time. There is only so much she can put up with; thats why in the scene 3 she is sly with making Bennet self constitution.

PUNK ROCK rehearsal period...

Punk Rock rehearsal period; the week of taking to the script was when we got given our characters, after this we looked at objectives (Mike Alfreds)(Stanislavski); so that we could add this to our scene so that we always had something to play, here is list of my short terms (STO) and long terms (LTO) objectives: scene 1 I have two different STO the first being to found Lilly who is he new girl, second is to get out with showing Bennet my true feelings (upset, scene 3 it is slightly harder as my LTO is to have mess about with the two girls but ones again change as I want Bennet to leave Chadwick alone, scene 4 STO is to get rid of the wasp then enough STO is to re-sure William about Loyd , STO again is to stop Bennet again and last a final scene for Tyana is scene 6 STO to re-sure Cissy that she will be fine and ones again changes a William goes crazy killing everyone therefore my LTO is to get out alive.

I found with in my scene that there is not really a lot of long term objectives that I want, as I found by wanting short term objectives give me more to play with in the scene; I suppose that my whole play objectives is to get sixth from over with and to live with Mr Anderson one day.

Scene 1 rehearsal, I found that the two other Tanya's kept it very still which was not something that I wanted to keep to due to the fact when i was in school I would move around to get in with the conversation more. I believe that this fits scene 1 as Tanya pops up randomly when sentence and words during this scene; I also found that by moving in the scene kept it more active. This week was the first time of my character so at first I was unsure how to play her, but after action the script I had more of perporse to be there and an action to play while on stage instead of looking around waiting for my line.

Scene 3 rehearsal is something I found I little bit hard as I never like doing the fake laugh on stage as I never quite get it, as I think it always sounds wired. This part took me out of my comfort zone at first after going through lines with others in the class during my spear time as made me feel more comfortable with this. This scene is my childish scene by the fact I mess about and chat and gossip with the two girls which is a nice element of the play.

Scene 4 this is the scene where I had the idea when it came to the violet side that is shown with Bennett and Chadwick; the idea that i put across was after the kiss (of chadders and cissy) for Bennett to grab the hair of Chadwick and go to slam Chadwick's face against the table' as it gave the atmosphere for the audience to be on the edge of the chair. The second idea that I had for this scene was the William to pick up and bang/move the table to give sound dynamic to make the scene more active to watch this happens on "I'll kill you for that." . Also this scene is something that i struggle with due to the face that I cant imagine of being scared of the wasp therefore the first time i done this scene is was very mello drama 'a wasp!" ; after a few practice this has improved but I believe there is still some work to do with this. so over the half term im going to get family member to help me with this buy throwing things at me ect to get it correct.

scene 6 is the scene that I found the hardest due to the fact I have to produce real tears on stage; something that i though I would never be able to do. At the being of the scene I struggle to get the tears to start; after coming to a method that worked for me I manged to it. I started by shorting the amount of times I blinked. Then after Adam said to get the berthing tens you're core muscle I add this in with the blinking and I mange to do this. This to me was a good achievement and one of my best scene by far but still think it needs work so I get tears a lot earlier in the scene.

overall I still believe that I need to work on my projection on lines so that I can be heard at the back of the theater . A challenge I have found during the whole rehearsal period is learning the lines every week for reach scene, but it has given me more freedom with my character when doing a run through.

Audition Blog 2 - Classical Speech

Othello is tragedy written by William Shakespeare; the play itself was first published in 1622.
Othello is one of the great tragedy themed plays by William Shakespeare. Othello is a highly esteemed general in the service of Venice. Iago is Othello's ambitious friend. Othello promotes the Michael Casio to the position of personal lieutenant and Iago is deadly jealous. Iago begins an evil and malicious campaign against the hero. Othello elopes with Desdemona but Iago starts to plot against them. Othello becomes jealous and suspicious of Desdemona. He confides in Iago that he plans to poison Desdemona. Plots and murders ensue and Othello returns to the castle to kill his innocent wife. He eventually smothers her to death.
Emilia tells Othello the truth about the scheming Iago. Othello wounds Iago, then kills himself. Iago kills Emilia.
Shakespeare makes the views of play very tragic, seems to view the marriage between Desdemona ( character I've chosen) and Othello as noble and heroic, for the most part with in it.
The different things that I have to consider is that it is late sixteenth century, during the wars between Venice and Turkey,my here is also a major conflict with in the play is Othello and Desdemona marry and attempt to build a life together, despite their difference in age and race. Their marriage is sabotaged by the envious Lago, who convince Othello that Desdemona is unfaithful. This is were my speech takes place as I'm asking Lago how do I get Othello back after he has left me (Desdemona).
The different themes about are the incompatibility of military heroism and love and the danger of isolation. This can be considers to link to the motifs sight and blindness; plants; animals; hell, demons and monsters;  these as things that take place quite a lot in Shakespeare.
The reason why I chose this speech was that is a speech that it is the speech that I have worked on before therefore I have already got a inside into the speech and an understanding with it. I have worked on as it was the speech that Anna Ransford had which i performed at the national theatre London. When I was working on this i really had to work on my articulation: by doing same excise with tongue twisters and precasting over and over agin. also to produce the rhyme of the speech I done a small bounce movement up and town when speaking it out loud this helped me learn it. The biggest reason is that I feel that I have a connection with the speech due to the journey I had with it, as it made me open more to something that I dislike that being Shakespeare.

Classical Theater Assignment Julius Caesar Final Blog Part 2 (pictures, links)

This is a moodle(picture 1) of the original Globe theatre in 1599: here is a link
http://it-it.abctribe.com/Disegni/Guide/Generiche/globe1.jpg that shows a diagram of the orginal stage and lay out;  after looking at this it gives you quite an image in which and how Julius Caesar would of been performed. With a blank background as it was about hearing the actor's, and there were no fancy lights.

Where compare today Julius Caecar there was a triangle add to the stage to make it more contemporary; it also add dynamic to the play...he is a picture showing what I mean (pictures 2).

When Shakespeare first ever started like I said in part 1 that they had no where fancy to get their costumes from; therefore the actors would steel and take from the bins that why actors uses to be knowing lowest of the low, just because they use to do this didn't mean they never use to be good take a look at pic 3 ...they would make do with what they could.

As in the Julius Caesar we saw they were all in the same type of stuff and something that I noticed was where they had gotten there shose from as on the bottom it saod Clark on them, now this is something that you would of not seen in Shakespeare days.

Classical Theater Assignment Julius Caesar final Blog part 1

The tragedy of Julius Caesar was believed to be written in 1599; it is a play that portrays the 44 BC conspiracy against the Roman dictator Julius Caesar. Julius Caesar assassination and the defeat of the conspirator at the battle of Philipp; it is one of several plays written by Shakespeare based on true event from Roman history, witch also includes Coriolanus and Antony and Cleopatra.

even though the title is Julius Caesar; Julius Caesar is not the most visible character in its action; he only appears in five scene through out the play. Its seems that after reading the play that, Marcus Brutus speaks four times as many lines at the center physiological drama is his struggle between the conflicting demands of honor patriotism and friendship to others in the play.

Julius Caesar was knowing to be first performed at the Globe theater; we know this due to a diary entrance from Thomas Killigrew (not to sure on the name but will cheek); who was Swiss traveler who saw the tragedy of Julius Caesar at backside theater believed to be the globe on September 21st 1599 short time after the globe was built.

Now when the globe was first built it was put just on the south bank also knowing as the Devil play ground as it was were people would miss behave and drink. This was not the nice side of the bank as it would be were all the bear cage fighting would take place and pubs plotted area so you could image the atmosphere. Back in 1599 there was no special lighting that let the actor when on stage; so must performances would take part during the day; due to this it wasn't just the actors lit it was also the aduince. As during Shakespeare the time it wasn't about seeing the show it was all about being seen at the theater as social event to stand at the globe and watch it would be 1 shilling, to sit it would cast 2 then the most expensive would 5 shillings; at this price they would be bale to seat on the bouncy; sometimes people would pay to seat on the edge of the stage and watch therefore the actors would sometimes be falling over them.

As it was all about hearing the actors; when Julius Caesar was first performed there would not be no backdrop ect as it would be done with blank behind them. The actors would also not have some where fancy to go a get there costumers they steel and take out the rubbish to make there costumes for their  performance; there acting style would be different to how we see today due to the fact as they would only get there ques lines therefore they never had the second on stage to wait around an relax as they always had to pay attention for there que line.

There are quite a few themes within this play; one being fate versus free will. As Julius Caesar raises  many questions about the force of fate in life versus the capacity for free will of the people. Cassius refuses to accept Caesar's rising power and deems a belief in fate to be nothing more than a form of passivity or coward. This showes in I.ii.140-142 with the conversation with Brutus.

Another main theme is public and private self; this is quite a main one as in most tragedy's stems characters tend to neglct of the private feelings and loyalties in favor of what they believe to be the public good. Similarly characters confuse their private selves with their public selves, harding themselves or transforming themselves into ruthless political machines. Brutus is a good character as example as Brutus, as Brutus  rebuffs his wife, Portia, when she leads with him to confide in her;s believing himself to be acting on people will, he soon forges with murder of Caesar despite their close friendship witch he protarys; this is great example as it sure shows the private him with his wife then how he can soon turn in the eye of public of killing the empire.

this is only to detail exaple of the themes in the play there are also others with such as rhetoric and power, misinterpretations and misreading.

when Julius Caesar was first written, there was in England and associated with Caesar; there was a political awareness that was taken place. As it was possible to change rigidity of rule: rigidity probably extending to tyranny. These possibilities were discussed in the 1590s more widely by way of the death of Richard II a victims in of tyranny, and Caesar assassination out of fear of tyranny. Samuel Daniel's first four book were on the war of roses, Shakespeare was aware of these books bases on the civil wars . Out of all the proportion, devoted 160 of its stanzas to the deposition and deat Richard II and on that same year wrote a play on Richard II; therefore this made people think about Shakespeare more about politics. Julius Caesar shows that Shakespeare is all about the monarchy; by the themes and how the people react to their leader.

The best political example that i can think about is when queen Elizabeth had sat on her throne for nearly forty years, enlarging her power at the expense of aristocracy and House of commons. AS she was then sixty-six year old, her reign seemed likely to end soon, yet she lacked any heirs (as Julius Caesar did). so this coursed many people fear that it would plunge England into the kind of chaos that had plagued England during the fifteenth-century wars of Roses and that's why it relates back to Samuel Daniel's, and Shakespeare directed these worries.

The relevents off today would be that shakespear is for the queen as he belives in monarchy. Where in today soicty no one would be in a panic if we did lose the queen due to the fact that today we have the government to make laws and to run the country, even though the queen is meant to do the royal assent the last time to was done in the correct maner was in the 18century. So therefore the government would lead the country.

i will add the pictures on to different blog and expand on them in part 2.

Audition Blog 1 - Contemporary speech

Contemporary speech :
The contemporary speech i have decided to do for the first assignment is from the play Boys by Ella Hickson, it was published in 2012. The speech is from the character Sophie, sophie is a graduating student who is middle class and from Southern England. This character suites me as its from just a few years older and the same type of background of being in middle class and will have the same accent; during the drama school stage this good work as advantage.
The scene which the speech is from , is based in the kitchen of a student flat in Edinburgh and based in present day around summer time, to whom of Sophie is Mack secret lover. Before the scene takes place Sophie that we know is having a secreyt relationship with Mack. During this She had been going out of Benny's brother Peter, Peter has recently hanged himself; as the evening passes Sophie confesses to Laura that she is in love with Mack;  but before anything could happen between them Mack made it clear that Sophie has to choose between him and Peter. Laura then goes on to make the connection between Peter's suicide and Sophie's choice. Immediately after the conversation,  Mack enters and a snarmyched moment between then Sophie broaches the subject.
After founding what happens in the play when it becomes putting the emotions in to the speech it has given me more to work on.The things i have to consider during vthe speech I that the play takes place over 24 hours so it has only recently taken place,  it is hot as dustbins have not been clear so might feel uncomfortable because of the smell of the rotting rubbish, inside ,the actions is fuelled by drugs and alcohol and last off all what is happening outside, while the flatmates are revelling, a riot is taking place;  that will build up of it feeling intense.
During the speech Sophie wants to confess to her lack of feelings about Peter's suicide,  to gain reassurance that she ia not a bad person-  as she can not feel guit, she is also justify her happiness in the wake of someone else's misery, porfess her love to Mack. This then leaves Sophie vulnerable; I also have to consider what it means to love and to be loved I hate to sound soopy bit at my point of stage in my life I have recently found this with someone therefore I can relate this back to the wjat she is trying to betray. Last of all Sophie is trying to get a response of Mack as she wants him to tell her he loves her to make her feel that it alright .
The reason why I choose this speech was the it was only published a few years ago in fact two and is put into a issue that could happen in any day as dose for some young people out there,  I also fsel that I will be able to show my skills and powerful emotions based on some of tge keywords such as guilt, grief, feel joy and peace during this and it something that I have never done. With such a powerful and emiontal twist to it.
I have chosen this speech to start getting it up on my feet i really had to get into the charactar to do so; so ive done the reseach ive tried just standing there a speaking it with emtion with some parts it worked. ive also recived fed back from friends and family and they adviced me to really work on knowing it and understind the sub lines between each line. this helpped me bring more emtion to it.

Blog on Julius Caesar

Shakespear wrote Julius Ceasar (JC) in 1599 to show that he was for one leader; JC is one of the first tragedy that he wrote; it tells a story of very powerful general, who increased the size and wealth of Rome, as JC wanted to rule Rome by himself this lead to his assassination by the conspiracy; in his death he had no children to take over from his roll even though he left his grand nephew Octavius as his heir there was still no successor, this left the people of roman to react due to JC murder this coursed civil war to bake out across Rome. This is related to Elizabeth in 1599 as she bought England to its height of wealth, however due to the fact she hadn't named an heir that would take place after her death as she had no children and her reign was clearly coming to an end; England begin to paince of when she passed just in case it was followed by a chaotic civil war- the same type that bought a massive mayhem to Rome more than sixteen hundred years ago; as England was in a good place at this point of time.

The Globe theater was first built in 1599 by  a source of people. Julius Ceasar is to belived to be the first played actually performed in the Globe, this was also seemed to be the first type of politics bought to the stage therefore it had an impact to the aduince that went to watch it. Shakespeare was a writer that takes certain liberties with his historical source as order to reduce the events in several years; as Mark Anothy was a noble man to the public that  to people of Rome to fight back. Historically, Ceasar's triumphal ceremony over Pompey occurs Ceasar's funeral before Brutus gathered his armies to fight Antony and Octavius on the plains of Philippi. Where in Shakespeare play  Ceasar's marches into Rome in triumph on the Lupercalia, that takes place in February as his assassinated in middle of  march. Also Brutus and Cassius are driven out of Rome after the moving speech that Antony delivers to people therefore this increase the dramatic intensity of the action. As Shakespear suggest that the decision the characters', that therefore course JC to ignore the warning given this has a massive consequences.

Julius Ceasar was a roman general dictar of roman in the 1st century and political leader whose role in the transformation of the Roman Republic into the Rome Empire changed the course of Western Civilization. He was also responsible for the first time invasion of Beitannia, Ceasar was also considered to be one of the foremost military geniuses when it came to it; he was also a very powerful politic speaker infront of the people; after he begin to gene control of the government he then began to reform the Roman society; he done stuff such as introduced measures that protected marriage and insition of the family, reduced the national debt.

after JC death on march 15th it restored to the republic back into Rome and coursed a spark in to the civil war; i believe that Shakespeare is really talking about the different politics in London but is saying hold on in my play i state Rome, as the place to be.

im not to sure if this correct but i have done so much research and this is what it results to, if i could talk about i could probably talk and make more scene.... sorry

YEAR 2 BLOG week 23rd-26th October + trip to globe and the affcts

week Monday 23rd-26th October

This week the productive days were Wednesday and Friday; Wednesday we took a trip to the globe theater once we finally reached there as it felt like forever on the mini bus, it was the first time i have ever been to the globe theater myself; it was a lot smaller then what I thought it would be, during the tour I found out some new facts such as the globe was constructed just out side Reading before bought to London as all the blots were handmade to fit in all different parts, ones up they flat packed it down and put it back together in London; also that the best seats in the whole during Shakespeare time was to sit on the bouncy as it wasn't about seeing the play it was all about people seeing you at the theater. as today the theater hold round about 1005 people at each performance; when the Globe was first built it would of held 3000 people, I found this fact interesting as how much scoity has change as now people want there space at the theater to move which they would of not have. also at the how it use to cost 1p to stand, 2p to seat and 5p to be in the bouncy; they try a put the price lowest they can have and still make profit.

During the workshop we took parts of Julius Caesar at random; the sheets that we was given just had the que line and then our respond to that; to me this felt better as it made me had to listen as I only knew the line before I had to say mine, therefore i always had to be reacting to what was being said, on the script there was no directions as Shakespear would put them in the script so when Mark Anthony says "stand back" Shakespear is really telling the actor to press against him. i found this as an actor it really help me learn as the director wont always be there to tell you what to do so it tough me that when reading a script you have to read between the lines in what the writer want/see his vision as. during the second part of the of the workshop we done small actives, one that stood out for me was when we ha to point at the person we was talking about for example when the script said you; you would point at the opposite person; this made me notice the power of the senescent that was being said, we also done an active of fit the paper during the lines that you was saying this once again bought power to the scene and made me notice during the scene the two characters were having a disagreement; doing these actives tough be the ins and outs on the scene and even though I couldn't quite understand it but by putting small actions in it made me understand in what was happening.

The performance it self was good seeming im not fan of Shakespear and I guess you can say thats wired for someone that studying drama; how it was director was very good for the space and due to the open top you could really tell of the actor voice being worked so that they could be heard; at the start of the performance and the first act I was stood in the center at the front which was good as it tends to bring you in to the atmosphere of the performance, with the yelling at the start it didn't just make me fell that I was watching it, it brought me into the performance and me feel a part and that is what Shakespear is all about. where during the second half I stood at the side, which I didn't really like as you lost that contact with the atmosphere as the actors weren't really looking that way and when they did it was very short and it made me feel that I was watching from the window; even though the performance it self was good there is one thing that i would disagree with and that was what happened to the actors after there death; Julius was carried off which is understandable but during the second act the actors that died then got up and walked off; I feel that during a performance you should go with them being dead and carried off for all death in the play instead of going for the two different ways as it made me lose the vision.

Friday punk rock started; as a class we were introduced into the different objectives these are different objects witch you're character wants to achieve in the play so give you a sample of a want objective in scene one of my character( Tanya) would be that i want to found the new girl Lilly. I suppose this could all count as my scene objective , each of these could change during the play to help me reach my long term objective( what i want during the whole play) that could be to get on with six forma and a levels and try my best for example the you have super objective( is what i want to achieve as the one) so Tayan could be how she wants to walk round Mr Anderson house barefoot pregnant with his babies. so objective is something that you work on and could change during rehearse to make you're character act during the scene so you are not just waiting for the line; when putting scene one together i used to objectives for me one to found Lilly and to be constitution in what was being said round the room but not to take notice just incase anyone mentioned my crush what is at the end of the scene. so when it comes to my next scene I can relax when talking about my vision with the teacher as my secret  is out in the open.

I also got a quick understanding on actioning sand this is what you want the other person to feel after you're line or when you walk in the room; so this made me think of how to say my line and what actions my character might to when on stage.( this i still have to do research in but this is what I've understood of it so far)

COMMDEIA

week 1,2,3

what are your initial responses to the commedia stock characters ?

My first impression of the stock characters was not the best in my mind i thought 'what the hell is this', this was because off the different shapes they were standing in and how we first walked round the room; i gave it my best shot and try to put myself into the character, when trying round the room i quite enjoyed trying pantelone out as i imagined some disney character such as cinderella step mother from the cartoon and reality films by the way she treat others as dirt and was always trying to get the younger princes to become her lover, she was always about the money. when you start looking into the different character more you really start to see them around in streets or work places example off this is when i was in a shop an i saw the women back bent over with a not very nice attitude towards the stuff and she was moan at everything, as it sounds already like stock character that is more mounding Punch.

During some improvisations of some issues that we were given to us, i started to feel that a female lover would be great for me as i can play the up straight character; but they tend to remind me of characters i already play such a Helen, whilst doing some off the improvisations i felt that had a comedy bound with certain people more then others, as when me and joe played Mrs Punch and Mr Punch, the scenarios was very small but some reason no matter what we said the two character bounced off each other. i felt that when i tried punch that i could shape the character i already could relate to this character as i already had seen this character outside in the real world so managed to take the shape and make in my own.

i also found when trying a improvisation with Bradly later on in the process i felt that lines where just falling out and we managed to come up with speech that was funny; such as 'oh little painty' this was never shown back to group in which i think is shame; overall i found that Commedia dell'arte that was first made within 16th century on streets i thought i would be something that may take my time to warm into. As i believe that I'm not the type of actress that is funny.

which creative ideas have you and the group had for the setting and scenarios in you own play?

well at first i couldn't really see where the setting could be in my head, after discussing it my head started to exploded with ideas of where we could set it such as theme parks and house of parliament; ill just expand on this idea of House of Parliament as i know that some people didnt quite get where i was coming from; so every day people such as MP's are making laws in which we have to live by the different parties are voted in by how many seats they have, but who says it is plesent when it comes to the commit stage; this stage is where the discuss and debate the different rules i though that we could take this and make it to a big issue. i also found that people would found it funny as they tend to agree with most of society but no-one has ever though of standing up to them.

overall we had to narrow it down to two settings we done this by trying them out with improvisation; i first tired the bank with Abbie and Paige was the bank yeah we were coming up with ideas, such we are all in love with the same person as when 3 girls tend to be in the same scene it tends to be something along the lines, after spending the whole time discussing are character and the is that was the bank has lost all its money so we had planed a fake robbery, we didn't have time to practice so we had to get up and try i found it really hard to work with Abbie and paige as they tend to block ideas and start to try something then stop after a word as they think its not going to work, when doing this scene i played a Arlecchino in which i really enjoyed but couldnt see myself playing it all away through.

The other setting was the prison that as a group of 7 we came up with an escape plan, in which i played a punch again; i enjoyed the idea but i felt that it could have devloped if people were positive and just trusted themselves with it as i felt that they were some depending on me to give feed them in which they should do.

The big weakness i found by the end off the week everyone wanted to be in the buckingham place setting as it seemed that has so much scenarios and small stories which could happen with in it; they were not trying hard enough to bring out the positive and scenarios of the others in which we could do.

How were the chosen scenario, plot and stock character finalised and developed?

well after the group had split into two different group one being the buckingham place and the other naming them 'freashmeat' we had to start all over again from the top as some people in group didnt like the idea or the bank or Jail i personally thought that they could have been great ideas that could have developed into something short and funny in which the audience would have enjoyed; but it was back to the start even though we all had a character that wanted play this made things slightly easer for us, two main ideas in which we really wanted to try was a dating agency; which i loved an saw many ideas for haw it would be set in a office and problems kept happening and i though it would have been a great way to show the different characters, i also thought off the line of take me out the t.v show; how each boy member would come out and pick there perfect date.

whilst improving the dating agency it really helped me to come to my character as a first it was really doctor based from some of the early improv in which we had done but because i had to run the dating agency i become more of a Brighella with it with some off the Doctor berates by thinking i know it all and how they would need to improve themselves, once again this really worked well with joe. even though i thought that this could have developed it to something the rest of the group thought that a beaut shop idea was the way to go by the comedy that could have been funny by the idea; this became an weakness as we kept looking for stuff to be funny by the words instead off   visual which was hard, so as we had decide on this a s group we tried 3x times to being it to life that was not happening.

this meant that we had to talk back to the group to being it back to the dating agency; in which we began to struggle with as the group started to lose force as even thought they said they was fine of not being in the bucking place one, you could tell that they weren't as they didn't wanted to try and would easily go off subject; after 2 days we had slowly managed to make it an whole class performance of the Buckingham place, yes so some character are the same but it tends to work.

This really made me more think about how i would have to develop my character so it wasn't a doctor and more of Brighella i am slowly starting struggle with this but now i have done Shakespeare i feel that i can do anything, as it has given me the confindce to do so, i have started to do film and video research into it more to help with ideas in how i can play the head of grounds more. also when being put in public to look out for some habit of always touching face or moving nose like rabbit to being to my character, the over all scenario and plot was a whole group decision; as we could have small links such as Quinine would always moan at me for something, Servants always wounding me up and P.A of the Queen also ends up giving me gossip. so even though there is an overall plot of the jawless going missing, the small habits and the unseen parts are the most funniest.

so even though im not to sure in how my final charactar is going to look like and sound like i am working to bring her alive to make her stand out to the audince, i think that it will come together an be strong peace if we just keep working hard in which we can do it.

Week 10

Week 10 - show week-

So normally this is the time where the whole class would be in a panic but some reason as a group we mainly managed to stay claim, how I will never quite know. This performance for me was the best that we have done in college by far, as we all worked as a team and we all helped each other we need to be. so mainly even though I didn’t really show it at the start off the week I was so scared to do my speech if Shakespeare; I practice it every night before on the Monday when I left college I didn’t know the end this bought to the worst mind-set that I have ever been with my lines. This meant I would relay it on the bus, yes I did get strange looks but it was worth it. The next day some reason I woke up speaking the end on my speech, when I relayed it back to people my heart began to rush faster and faster every time it was like I could hear my own heart beating inside of my head, I think this was main course that made me forget certain parts as I would rush forward before I had said the line. that’s why I’m so glad we have the group that we have as they have supported me so much with this as I knew they knew how I felt and how scared I was about it; later that Tuesday there was a few members of the class in the theatre so I wanted to take the opportune to say the speech on stage; while performing it I knew it could of been better but I tried that was a main thing and I never forgot my lines, at this point I just wanted support but a member of the class gave me some feedback that knocked my confidence, but this made me want to defeat the comment they made so it made me work harder. As in life I have known learnt that people can knock you down but if you let it hold you down you will never go forward so you have just got to more and step over it to become a better person.

One other issue that we was struggling with at the start of the week and this was moving the wardrobe during the transactions espial the fact that I was some one that set it at the start of the play. this took a few times to get right and even during the first two performance it wasn’t the best but during the night some reason we had worked out small signs that we used to tell each other that it need to be moved. I think that it was an issue at first because of the amount of short time we had to move the wardrobe.

Custom was not a thing that I was not even thinking about till I walked into Mondays class and Karen said to me, this is when I realise that I need it for the next day luckily I spoke to Elle and she had a white dress that I could lend, even though it was Morden I had a shirt that I looked like it was something that could go over the top to make it over to make it look less Morden day and more from the 1665.

During the performance and tech runs there was some penetrations in which I was struggling with and I was founding hard to overcome, in in the last performance I hadn’t overcame this, it was words such as 'to' instead I was saying more of 'two'; Abbie suggest that instead of trying to say 'to' why don’t you say 'ant' as therefore you was getting 'and to suns' still as the sounds where now there but making the speech sound more clearly to the audience.

The reason why I wanted the speech and scene four to be perfect was because it was the first time that my parents had watched me perform within 10 years and guess i just wanted them to see in why I do acting and some performance arts as I know that deep down that I’m not the best person at acdimc subjects but I still try my hardest as I enjoy them. So I felt that if they watched me they would understand me better; I felt that scene four had a lot of energy as we was used to performing it in  such a bigger space but ones we found out that it was to be performance in the wardrobe apart from the end part of the speech; it was struggle to conduct it to the small space; as the sage directions that we had was a lot harder to do as we kept tripping in the dresses, to be truthful I felt like an clown but afterward I understand why Karen had made the change and I’m glad that it was as our scene had more of an impact to the audience eye begin performed in  the small space.

Week 9

Week 9-

So the week before the show and I must say some reason I wasn't worried; it was just everything was comong together apart from my speech. I managed to do the intro fine it was just the ending that was not staying with me, thurthful it started to really annoy me but as the group was so helpful and kept supporting me gave me confidence that I could and can do It.

I had the help of individual people such as Charlie and Pagie as they were in my scene and they knew how important it was for me to do it. Me and Charlie took a few minutes out and helped me learn my lines by going through it by line by line. This took part on Thursday which I am glad that we did do it as later on Thursday I showed it yo the class for the first time,  I was nervous when I started but after I felt that nothing could defeat me, as I had over come something that I fear because im delisyx so I found reading it even harder but I over came it again.

Also this week we worked on the epilogues I tend to have a big input with this as I came up with the idea of us entering during the scene 12 as the whispers then do our tablos outside scene by scene; karen took my idea and adopted it with the beaths and the heads to clock, internal, audince at the end of the show. The idea from this came from the tablos that we worked on for the being of the show at first we tried to add it so we walked round and done them this was yet again one of my ideas it tend not to work as well as in which it could of done but the group as one tried the hardest to make it work.

I felt because I had such a imput with some of the scene it made to rethink of my career when I leave college, so truthfully now im in stuck as working on this and have a lecture that os welling to take on board our ideas for the performance has made me consider directing and has inspired me to start writing a script in which maybe one day ill get shear with the world.

week 7 & week 8

 week 7

This week we have mainly been looking at the scene one by one so that we could block each one alot faster. My scene was not one of the first to be blog so my group spent time looking at the script as the story and inner body launge that is not said stright away when looking at the scene at first time. Also i think deep down that i was worried about the fact; at this point i did not know my lines that well so my group spent time just going over them a few times during the day. To be thurthly it didnt really help i think it was the confindce of not being able to look at them if i lost them during the run through, so i decide to chanllenge myself and when we blocked it again not to have them in my hand and it turnt out that i did know them.

As a group we had to look at pur scene with in different ways to do with relistic this really helpped me understnd the body lanuge of Anna, to make me get in the  mind-set of her; i have started to become her as soon as we start in the class room; this can be dangrouse in aay so i have to make sure i shake it out complety when finshed; i think this is important i do this even though anna has made me notice small parts of my own personality that i enjoy now.

Anna has a shakespear speach which at first i hated but after working on it i have frown on it and we worked alone on it for the first time, to help me get what is actually said during the speach as it is important to understnad what you are saying as an actor, so the the audince understnads you and belives you when relating the lines; when we began working on the speach i struggled with it to be thurthful, as shakespear use words such as thou and thy I found it hard to get my lips around these words. Also some of the sturcture of the scenecing is different to what is now said in the morden day as line like 'a vison full of majusty' I found hard due to the fact how sthe sturcture i cant quite rememeber in what i was sying but all i know that it was wrong.

while working on the this shakespear speech i have notice my artucaling on distion has improved with a big different as it has been chanllenge with 'th'.

during this week just becuase ypu wasnt working on your own scene it dosnt not mean you could just sit round and do nothing so while i was waiting nce again i put more ideas into imogen and alica scene and helped imogen with how to recat by relating back to real lide to help her make the audince belive it was real. as she sturge with this and her reaction when she was telling alilica to get out the warodroob didnt seem enough at first so i told her to act as if her mum walked to her room and she didnt want her to see some thing that so she shuted at her to tell her to get out; after i told her this it improved as she began to found her charactar strong parts with the line.

week 8

week was once again more one to one on scene with karan and time to catch up with work that has not been done, even though we done some samll workshops such as;...
. Drawings - it was 5 images that releated to the script in that spring to mind stright away so one of mine in which i could remeber was hole due to the fact that even though every caharactar though that no one really knew about the awrdrobe they were wrong as in the last scene it was in musmue therefore all the actually hisroy has been revlease.
.1 mintue- this is were each scence had to improve there scene in a mintune to get their scene across but in style, my scene uses the style of childern this worked well as it bought out the small laughters within the scene.
. Brecht 8/12 tablobs- this worked for our scene as it helpled us more as group to understnad the unseen parts with in the scene and what actuallu had to be highlighted without us even nowing it also it helpled me understand the oder and the each scene a bit better.

later in the week we worked on some stance to help us underline the unseen within our character my first stance was Brecht and it was to show the audience that I was hiding the plauge and did not want my friends to found out that I had the plauge.

I found that these stance really helped me become my character and as I added some of these stance to my speach which helped me remember it.

week 5 and week 6

week 5/6

This week we studied a different style of acting called Epic Theatre by Brecht; we also looked at the history of Brecht, while studying Brecht some how managed to full in to politics and what we think as teenagers and if we agree with society of today. This was to give an inside of our thoughts; in are groups we had to decide on a subject that annoyed us. when we started to talk about this within our groups it was hard to agree on one thing together so i said about GCSE; this was something we all agreed on. Due to the argument who is the government to put a grade on someone that works hard in life but not very acdimic like myself as during school i had 100% attence but yet didn't now work out with the grades i wanted and was meant to get as when it came to the exams i panic. The government cant even say that it effects you in life as it dose and we all know it dose as you have go to the grads to take the subjects you want to do in college and uni i was lucky enough to get mine, unlike some people i know.

During these two weeks we looked at a different typed of method acting; I was used for an example of an experience I had by this it help see how must shows like the actors to show a story and this was reacting the story that had happened at the weekend;  it was story that i unsure to shear but I felt the group meaning class was close enough to hear and understand. The other was was to tell it how you would tell a friend by using hand movement, this can be used on stage to bring the aduince into the story or to give tgem more detail. I felt like some of this method got be used during my scene by the realness of when  Anne has to hide the plague.

Also during these weeks i had to do some sheakspear research on script to fine the correct monuglog that suited me, I found this a strungle at first due to im not a fan after speaking with karen we found a speach that suited me but had to mix it us a bit but we can also link it to Anne; that helps the aduince feel more for her. Wheb reading the script its hard to found the rhythm so ive had to practice at home while bouncing and say the words slow this has helped abit but im still struggling with how to say some words to tell the truth,  I just hope and guess that the more I work on it the better it will get.

Not only have I worked on mine scene I have also put some ideas forward for scene of Imogen and Alicia and how they discover each other within the wardrobe.

week 4 (27th-2nd)

This week was mainly looking at different style to act and how we can bring ourselves as an actor to the character more and how to make them more realistic.

First it was hard to become Anne as i couldn’t put myself into the mind farm of having disease that bad, so in my group we tried to act it like the swin-flu was around again. Even though it wasn’t as bad as the plague, it sat the mind to be aware for the stuff your character touches with in the wardrobe. This began to help me become the character Anne.

While reading over the script normally we though the story was that the plague was around and Anne never can have her dream of being on stage. So as an whole class we did a task that put beats into the script; these beats are just small pause when saying sentence. As group we then showed it back to the rest of the class and we found that where I put the beats into the script, it was much like me and not Anne. As myself that when talking in a conversation I tend to take pause a lot; it became more noticeable when the class picked up on it and mentioned it to me, so for Anne to have the pause in that we original had was not Anne it was me. To solve the problem I went an looked at the script and read over the lines to change in which I’ve done in class.

Dring the week we worked on different states of acting and how we could apply it to our characters these are the key ones that i thought would work as group also as Anne:,

•State 1- Awakening, this state would work for the begin of the play as we are all bored in the wardrobe, so the slight s movement of the body would help to get this across to the audience and i know as myself when I’m bored ill touch my face a lot or move my thumb over the other one and looking around; this is something i can bring to Anne as character. This could one that we all use in a group.

•State 6- Definitely someone is watching you, this could also work with group in the performance as it could work with when Mary and Anne think that Sarah has plague on page 17 and the top of page 18 on the script, as we are both in fear that Sarah has the plague and we do not want it.

•State 9 -the bomb has gone off, this is a good state to have over all as the bomb in the room is that Anne has the plague but has not told anyway as she is hiding it, as she wants to think that her dream will come true this will also work well with state-5 someone watching you; as it helps show paranoia and Anne could show this due to the plague and she don’t want the others to found out that she is carrying it. Also state 7- about to catch a ball this, this works well for Anne as there is something in the air waiting for someone to hear it so like cliff-hanger is the best why i can describe it.

Week 3

so 'truth' is a question we tend to ask when we watch as show in the theatre, where did the question of it come from and why and who are the question we mainly don’t tend to ask ourselves. This week we began with looking at this.

well now I can answer these questions as this is what we began to look at on Monday, It was in fact Anton Chekhov 1860-1904 that started to notice the different with acting he was original from Russia it wasn’t too he, parented up with Stanislavski in 1898 when he joined the Moscow art theatre, that they started to work on plays to have atmosphere.

Stanislavski was born 1863-1983 he was opened to theatre throughout his life but was only method acting as he grew up with this he felt the need to go a study it, 1885 he attended drama school for 3 weeks and claimed it was teaching him 'what to avoid'.

This week we looked at some improv and how to make it believable and to make it true and not put on, so that it build an atmosphere while doing this we study the system with acting such as; circles of attention, solitude in public and the magic if. While studying some of these we would have to put our self through our memory if we could go to the place this can tend to be dangers as you can go to place and not return.

A good example of this is when we improved that we were lost as we were lost in a city but once working on it after a while you began to feel empty and that nothing was there around you, even though other people were in the room it didn’t feel quite that they’re where actually there with you, This made me feel empty and cold with in body temp. Another example that i found really worked with this is when we did a polish improv with groups as i went a put myself in the issue we acted out and it was not nice to feel that much emotions at once and i don’t want to even image when it or if it does happen. The issue my group decide that our mother was in hospital and waiting for a heart replacement while begin on life support, the atmosphere within the group was un-real how much it changed the whole room atmosphere. so i was glad that i was with a great group so that we could experience this.

even though earlier in the week we did the same sort of thing but it didn’t quite work as well as we didn’t have rules to follow so it tend to have a comedy side of things so it was not as believable i thought, i also think a reason for this that some of us lost focuses due to the audience  began to laugh.

week 2

This week was mainly to do with auditions, to see what part would push us as an actor. While reading the script I found that most characters had some relation and summarily to Helen of Troy. On the first day there was not any character that which stood out for me in the script. The main reason for this was because I tend to like the over to characters, at first I thought this may have been an issue. After Monday I was stuck with parts of the script I would like to try, so went home thinking that this could be script I would start to hate, hate is quite hard to put on script that you haven’t even started fully , so the only thing I could do is to carry on and hope for the best for the rest of the week.

The next day with acting and put the script on to feet was Wednesday, Wednesday was slightly harder for Karan to see us in characters that we may have sorted, due to the fact that it was auditions for the next year to start the course. This did not put me off with trying best so I could get a full insight with the characters, as it may help me with making a decision. One of the main characters that stood out to me while acting it out with Jeannine as I liked how the power changed during the scene, the issue with getting this part would be that it was too much alike as Helen Of Troy.

There was one part that i really did not one in the script and this was Anne, this was because of the Shakespeare that Anne has to relay and I’m not the biggest fan of Shakespeare scripts. I don’t really have reason to give for why I’m not guess but I think one of the reasons may have been that we study him so much in school. So on Thursday when I was asked to act of the script as Anne I was not the happiest person in the world, I guess after trying it and working more on it my heart kind of lighting up to the character. Also we found that Anne was different from Helen Of Troy as she was sweet and soft with her body image.

Once I began with the Shakespeare speech it kind of felt different and I felt that I was on stage and really relaying the words in front of millions of people, this was the first time i have felt this while studying acting. So even thou i have been cold hearted toward Anne the character have inspired me.  So when I was told that my casting was Anne I was kind of happy even though I never showed it.

The reason why I’m happy that i go0t Anne in the end that she is different and in a way i can relate to her going out and wishing for something, as i have a wish that if I don’t do well in acting or go on to study law that I’m knowing the music industry. Also the time period of Anne is when the great plague of London began and to be honest i love history and the fact I get to work on history more and to research such a powerful memory of the time is amazing for me as you can never know too much.

I also started to begin to think of ideas for the prostrations we have to do in small groups, but if i told you them it wouldn’t be a suspire so i guess you will just have to wait and see.

The Wardrobe week 1 (6th-12th)

So it was the first week of hearing and working on the new script ; the wardrobe , I personally think that it has wonderful story line of how it travels through out the different time periods. Whilst reading it I found it tended to take me back to my childhood; as I would have a little quite place where I could be myself with different people; when I was 5 years old I would seat in tree with my cousin and we would talk and play games with in the tree.
When I was 10 my brother and I would make a tent under his bed and hide and tell each other everything and then being the age I am now when I want to be allow or be myself it is in the public place as everyone can see but it is roof , that we would all sit on when I was younger.

I can see that I will be able to connect with the script more within this day and age as my must recent place that reminds me of the wardrobe , is in the car with one of my best friend (my dad) as I can sing and dance and not worry about the outside world as i know I should be lucky to have some where like that.

I wasn't there Wednesday due to trip with a different subject.

Thursday we looked at different scene and try to get them on to our feet to see how we would look in characters , this I found interesting as I have no idea in what part I would enjoy at the moment but while trying different ones it has given me chance to notice , which one will challenge me.

So all together I am ready to take on bored the script to bring it to life

Evaluation of Greek Performance

Evaluation on black and white:

Basics-

During the performance of black and white that is based on The oresteia by Aeschylus and Blood and light by Helen Edmundson; i found that the cue of my line where good as i remember in which lines were after each other, i found this was because mainly that it was reparative and a duel log; just because i remembered the cue dose not mean i found it easy to get some of the words penalisation create due to my accent as i am from Portsmouth it was hard, therefore after dress rehearsal we were able to pick up on some that i struggled with. These were word such as 'father','was' and 'unloveable'; this was because in 'father' i would have said 'fafer' therefore i was not saying 'th' in between the word; i also found while saying 'was' my accent really showed this was not what we wanted within my character after sitting a discussing the issue i learnt that even though it spelt with a  's' it is penalised as an 'z'; 'unloveable' was enough main one that stood out when i was on stage as i would not sound the 'un' therefore it sounded like 'loveable' that was wrong, these are only some of the words in which i struggled with. I am glad that we found this problem at an early stage as it will give me something to work on to make me improve as an actress.

I found during the performance the entrances and exits and scene transition worked really well as everyone was working together to get the scene changed and the cue on stage as quick as possible, behind stage that the audience was unaware of that we was all working together to get everyone in the correct place if they last there awareness of the performance; i found during my scene with shelby entrance and exit worked well even though it was hard to tell as i had to be on stage just before the music started; while during mine and zach scene where we walked in was slightly harder as we had to listen out to line to be said. The exits where a lot easier due to that i felt relief that my lines where over my first scene was easy as i cam off the same why i entered but sometimes people where all within the corner; especially with the news paper skirt. the scene that Helen is killed was a easy exit as no-one was to see me go as i was behind the red cretonnes.

In a whole i think the pace of the performance was good as it had a different within each scene in act one i found that it moved fast not to the point it was rushed but to the point it would draw the audience in, so it tended to work really well with act one; where during act two i found that the past didn't stay on one level, it tended to have different dynamic as some scene would go at slow past as it worked better with the script on the other hand Helen and electra scene tended to be a scene that had both dynamic in as some lines would be said with pause and slow but others would be said fast.

The chorus were only really in act one the most so the chorus moments worked really well to get the story started and helped to betray the theme we wanted to get a long i would say one of the strength of the chorus would be that timing and how we worked together to, the main weakness that stood out for me when performing the chorus with energy i found if one person energy wold drop on stage it bough the rest of us down; this was mainly point out in the last show this maybe because half of us came down with a cold now im not saying thats a reason.

Stylistically-

I would say that the style of the piece was not just one; there was a main this was greek tragedy. even though this was the main one there was still signal ones within the piece as we decide to have chorus this meant we had to work as an ensemble; there was also physical theatre within the play as we felt as a group it would work well to betray some actions even though we kinda wanted some realistic with in the piece we also wanted it to be other the top,

As bring in the chorus as well while playing Helen of Troy i found that i achived some skills and learnt more about myself when acting, i found that i began to work more with in a ensemble this use to be weakness as i found it hard to get everyone  ideas across; during the rehearsal it all didn't  go as down easy but it took a few weeks but we finally got there by doing this i found that it helped me perform better when it came to the performance, i found this didn't only effect me by one person achieving this skill it bough the rest of the class together on stage. in my scene i found that playing Helen of troy helped me play a roll that is kinda of realistic as i usually play a roll of an over the top stereotype.

Actors skills-

In the performance i had two different types as during the chorus i had a mystery type of journals character that wanted to know everything that was going on the scene that showed this the most was abbi scene when we were walking round in all different past and i was looking over all different people shoulders, to found out in that they were reading. where when i was Helen i need to have power within my voice and make people listen during the performance i did this my using pauses  before i answered also they way i walked on stage helped get the across; as i walked around with stillness, while doing this i still had to have some sort of incercure i did this by looking around with my eyes and touching my hair and arms when on stage.

In the performance vocal delivery was weakness as I've already discussed within the evaluation, i found when moving around stage made my delivery lines stronger with in the performance as i felt that it gave me powerful and i could move my diaphragm more to get the loudness i need to get the whole audience to hear my lines.

Ensemble-

I found that as an whole class performance that we worked well as a team and we always supported each other on stage and behind stage before we went on, i know during the performance some people panic as they get nervous and as team everyone tried there best to kept it together and forces when performing. During back stage some people do lose focus this may have been because of nervous i though that we kept it together during the performance and helped each get back on track as a team.

The chorus could sometimes lack energy with in the scene; as i think this may have been that we had ran the scene so many times and we lost everything for it, how ever i found that as a team we ended having full control in that the audience choice of what to believe. The most dynamic of the chorus were mainly in different levels with the bodies and in out different individual voice when saying lines as some would say it as they where performing to little children for example, a good scene that would show this would be the final scene at the end of act one as where maybe in little groups but we where all as one.
